LG-Nortel Launches New Cost-effective Telephony System for SMB Market 2007-04-05

- New PABX Station Connects with VoIP Systems, Allowing Voice and Data Integration

LG-Nortel, the LG Electronics and Nortel* [NYSE/TSX: NT] joint venture, today announced its first PABX station with IP solutions intended for the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) small and medium business market (SMB). The ipLDK60 telephony system is part of LG-Nortel’s global strategy to increase its focus on Enterprise markets. The launch of this product in Brazil is part of a global launch tied with India for the Asia region and Turkey for Europe.

“Brazil is one of our most important markets within the Caribbean and Latin America, and we know that to continue expanding our business in Latin America, we need to focus on this strategic market,” said Juan Chico, president, Nortel Brazil. “The launch of this new product for the SMB market builds on our commitment to simplify technology and make it accessible to businesses of all sizes.”

“The launch of the ipLDK60 represents LG-Nortel’s first step in making its business strategy for Latin America a reality,” said Alex Pierson, general manager, LG-Nortel. “We have concentrated our efforts on developing solutions to serve the SMB market, considering the potential growth of these businesses in the region.”

The ipLDK60 provides maximum efficiency in integrating voice and data solutions to users who are looking for more effective communication products and services. With a capacity of up to 48 extensions, the ipLDK60 also incorporates services such as voicemail, self-help and conference mode, as well as an interface for connection with local LAN Ethernet networks. Cost effective and easy-to-use, the ipLDK60 is a feature-rich communications platform, providing analog, digital and VoIP capabilities that allow companies with limited budgets to migrate towards convergence with minimal investment in future upgrades.

The ipLDK60 will be available in Brazil in April, exclusively through Nortel’s network of channels and partners, with an estimated retail price starting at US$500.
