LG-Nortel Joint Venture announced that it will co-host Nortel GSM/UMTS User Group event with Nortel of Canada. Designed to provide worldwide customers with a future prospect for mobile broadband technologies, the program is taking place at Ritz Carlton Hotel, Seoul, Korea, for three days from April 25.
The GSM/UMTS User Group event, the biannual show taking place in one of major cities across the world, will be held for the first time in Seoul in line with the official launch of LG-Nortel Joint Venture at the end of last year.
As part of the program taking place in Seoul for the first time in Nortel’s history, Peter MacKinnon, Chairman of the board of director, LG-Nortel Joint Venture, will introduce LG-Nortel at the opening ceremony on April 25 and invited customers will participate in LG-Nortel Anyang R&D Center tour program on April 26.
Under the theme of “A Journey to Broadband Mobility”, the event will include a welcome remark by Reinhard Herr, O2 Germany, Chairman of the Nortel GSM/UMTS User Group, followed by an overview of U-IT839 policy by an official of Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) and a presentation on the future prospect of 3G/4G mobile network.
The program will also provide an opportunity to share information on the latest wireless technologies of main Korean mobile players such as SK Telecom and KTF. In addition, there will be presentations and forums on the recently emerging 3G and HSOPA/LTD next-generation network technologies such as HSDPA.
In relation to three wireless technologies including GSM, UMTS and voice and packet core, three workshops covering products, operation and engineering will be open to the attendees, which is expected to serve as a platform for sharing and exchanging information on latest wireless technologies among domestic and overseas telecommunication companies. At the event, LG-Nortel and Nortel plan to announce their future strategies for wireless communications.
Especially, the participation of major Korean players including SK Telecom and KTF and world’s leading telecom players such as Orange, O2, Partner, T-Mobile, CTC and Mobilkome is expected to provide attendees with a chance to gain more understanding of the future direction of mobile technology developments. Additionally, exemplary innovative cases of Korean mobile communication players in relation to next-generation mobile network technologies will be introduced to attendees from global telecom companies, which is expected to reaffirm the position of Korea as an IT powerhouse in the world’s market.
